A name synonymous within the Australian electronic music scene for over a decade, Elroy, more recently reborn as PABLO CALAMARI, has come far from his humble beginnings at age 14, playing and promoting at Underground warehouse/rave parties and hosting radio shows. Evolving to playing major festivals like the big day out and Two Tribes, supporting the biggest names all over the country, while also remixing, writing and producing music for most major and independent labels.
In 2002 Elroy achieved a Number 1 Aria Chart topping remix for Glaubitz & Roc – Sunshine Day, which was released on Tinted records. He held that position well over 8 weeks and saw his remix utilised by Channel Ten for there logo advertising breaks for the following 2 years. Then in 2003, Elroy went on to sign a publishing deal with major label Warner Chappell which in turn spurred many great projects and remixes with accomplished writers/musicians, including the opportunity to compile a remix for Famous Jazz Musician Paul Graboski and World Renowned Trumpet Player Branford Marsalis, which received rave reviews in the U.S.
In 2006 Elroy and Piper (aka. The Jump Off) collaborated with UK break beat legend Tayo to produce Down Under Dub. The track was released on UK Label Passenger/777 ,owned by break beat all stars Aquasky, and saw the track go on to be featured on worldwide DMC Mixed CD Release “These are the Breaks “mixed by Tayo. It hit the Number 3 Spot on the beats and breaks Chart in UK DJ Mag, and so begins the union of Elroy and Piper, now known as The Jump Off.
Elroy, together with long time production partner Tom Piper went on to set up their own label, BambamMuzik, specialising in electronic, dance and breaks and features all their own material with loads of remixes from the cream of the dance music crop. BambamMuzik houses new up and coming producers that, together with Elroy and Piper, are writing slamming tunes to rival the veterans. With his new label, Elroy’s discography is enviably long and showcases his talent and craft for creating the hottest tracks in the dance arena, including single Point and Clap, which hosts a myriad of remixes and is fast on the rise.
As a respected DJ, Elroy’s scratching and flawless mixing sees him regularly playing at Sydney’s best club’s and events, supporting international artists such as Sasha, Green Velvet, Cypress Hill, and many more toured extensively overseas playing in the UK, Switzerland and Japan and teaching at DJ schools, volunteering his time to mentor the next generation of Sydney DJ’s to learn from his years of experiences coupled with inevitable mistakes that come with the territory.
